A conversation with Suze from 4Suze: Passion for flowers and entrepreneurship

Suze, the driving force behind 4Suze, is 32 years old and has been a self-employed florist for 10 years. Her journey began modestly, with limited resources but a great talent for floral arrangements, which she discovered while working for her then-employer. Starting from an old cooling cell and her own home, she gradually built her business, which has now grown into a thriving flower shop of over 700 square meters. "My mission is to offer every customer the most beautiful flowers and the best service, with a personal touch that you can only find in a village."

Unique positioning and assortment

4Suze distinguishes itself through a wide assortment and old-fashioned customer friendliness. "The village feel shines through, and customers appreciate our reliable service." Her assortment ranges from roses from Ecuador to unique flowers that are not commonly found. "I personally purchase flowers at the auction three times a week, so I always have the most beautiful and unique flowers in stock." Suze's favorite flowers are roses and lilacs, which inspire her with their classic beauty. However, the quality and appearance of any flower can entice her to create something beautiful.

While she cherishes the charm of real flowers, she also sees potential in silk flowers, provided they are used correctly. "Flowers nourish your soul, and that's a feeling I want to keep sharing with my customers."

Sustainability and innovation

Sustainability is a high priority at 4Suze. Suze collaborates with sustainable growers and is affiliated with the Sustainable Florist Barometer. "I believe it's important to take good care of the world, and my customers notice that too." She is proud of her electric van and her focus on eco-friendly purchasing, although she acknowledges that the costs of such initiatives can sometimes be challenging.

Future plans

For the future, Suze has ambitious plans. "I want a larger, cozier store and will continue to seize opportunities for growth." With her passion, creativity, and eye for quality, Suze is an inspiration to her fellow florists and a beloved entrepreneur in her community.

Customer service, teamwork, and staff

At 4Suze, everything revolves around creating a warm, familiar environment for both customers and employees. Suze leads a dedicated team of 13 FTEs, with each employee having their own specialty. From bridal work and funeral arrangements to cashier duties and deliveries, every team member contributes to the shop's success. "My team feels like family; we share joys and sorrows, and without them, I would be nowhere. They are very dear to me and invaluable."

Inspiration and creativity

Suze draws her inspiration from unexpected moments, such as in the shower. Her passion for flowers is so strong that she misses the feel of fresh flowers in her hands after just a few days off. "After a few days off, I miss the feel of fresh flowers in my hands; it's the first thing I do when I get home: adjust the flowers." Her work is a blend of flowers and interior styling, where she often integrates cut flowers and potted plants to create cozy, atmospheric spaces.

"My team feels like family; we share joys and sorrows,
and without them, I would be nowhere."
